This project
presented two different challenges: a house
with stunning views of the Catskills Mountains, that were to be
preserved at costs, and an exposed area, windswept, dry and
parched by the hot summer sun.
Kerns Nursery
solution:
a wide, winding stone walkway, winding around the house. A
slate terrace facing the valley with mountain view, ideal for
relaxation and setting up garden furniture. Slate entrance
towers used in the summer to hold flowerpots.
Kerns Nursery
solution:
Stone borders around flower beds. A large rock garden.
Stone walls. A large collection of plants that can like a
lot of direct sun. Stunning views from the house over the
Mountaintop are preserved. Stone walkways complement the
slate entrance and use local materials.
